Consider Supporting KCC

At KCC, we recognize how precious the Dharma is and make every effort to provide teachings for as little cost as possible. We can do this because KCC is a small organization fueled in large part by volunteers. With only one salaried staff member—Resident Teacher Michael Conklin—we manage to keep our budget small. Still we operate two facilities, offer multiple public meditations weekly, and have over two dozen retreats, classes, and events scheduled throughout the year.

Below is a thumbnail outline of our finances:

  • The total cost to operate those two centers in 2011 will be right about $175,000.

  • Roughly $75,000 of the funds we need will come from retreat fees, the bookstore, and other sources of earned income.

  • The remaining $100,000 will come from the KCC sangha, both those in the northwest and our friends living across the country.

  • We have about 100 supporters who give regularly to KCC.  If we were to average out the need, it would work out to be $1,000 per person per year, or about $85 per month.

We would love it if you felt inspired to help support our mission to provide the precious Dharma.  Here are several Ways to Give.

Consider Volunteering

Another way to contribute to KCC is by offering your time and expertise. Volunteers are absolutely critical to our success: each year, dozens of people provide thousands of hours of volunteer labor to support KCC’s activities. Volunteers do everything from cleaning the urban center to providing strategic planning to acting as land stewards on our retreat land near Goldendale. Beyond helping KCC function, volunteering is an important way members support each other as a community; people regularly mention that their connection to the Dharma has deepened as a result of working as a volunteer.
