KCC Board of Directors' Policies and ProceduresMembership PolicyKCC Membership Policy Approved by the Board of Directors June 9, 2009 Definition of Member Members of KCC are individuals or families who feel a connection to KCC’s mission and vision, and/or to its teacher(s) and community (sangha). Identifying oneself as a member is a voluntary decision. There is no formal process to become a member, and membership is not tracked administratively. Financial Support: Pledges All individuals, whether they are members or not, are encouraged to make an annual pledge to KCC. Those who pledge are asked to give at the level they are able and will receive periodic reminders of the status of their pledges. Retreat DiscountsAnyone who maintains a pledge to KCC--whether a member or not--can receive a discount to KCC-sponsored retreats. The rationale behind these discounts is that financial supporters are contributing toward KCC's general overhead costs, which are factored into retreat pricing. Election of the discount will be tracked on the honor system, with registrants checking a box on the retreat form, indicating that they maintain a pledge to KCC. Sangha VoteIn the event of a sangha vote under the terms of KCC’s bylaws, individuals who have maintained a pledge to KCC for two years and/or who have maintained a steady volunteer commitment for two years are considered to be on the Sangha List as described in the bylaws. The Volunteer Support Committee will make the final determination of which individuals qualify for the Sangha List through their volunteer commitment. The Board of Directors may also define other criteria for being on the Sangha List.
