Membership Team Charter
Goals
Welcome visitors to the KCC community with sensitivity to their varying interest, aptitudes, and experience.
Facilitate newcomers' engagement in the practice of the dharma through increasing accessibility to membership in the sangha.
Cultivate a connection between membership and practice.
Facilitate the provision of monetary and volunteer support for propagating the dharma at KCC through membership.
Activities
Select and train volunteer greeters who will provide information, a personal contact for newcomers, and assistance for newcomers in finding their "niche" at KCC.
Coordinate with the Communications Committee in developing the materials described below.
Develop and/or collect materials helpful to guide newcomers at KCC. Distribute these materials to visitors as appropriate to their interest and experience.
Develop a "new member packet" of materials to welcome and guide individuals who join the membership of KCC. Develop a renewing member packet with news and further guidance.
Work with the board and other appropriate committees to create and maintain a yearly "Commitment Sunday" designed to increase and renew membership and giving.
Coordinate work with those developing the "Master" KCC database of members, benefactors, etc. in order to maintain an accurate list of members and contacts.
Write a yearly budget and submit it to the Finance Committee.
Review membership policies and procedures with input from the sangha and make suggestions to the board.
Communication
The Membership Team will communicate with the sangha primarily via e-mail (community and announce list serves), via the bulletin board, and via the newsletter or in mailings.
The members of the Membership Team will communicate with each other primarily via e-mail. Members will meet with each other on an as-needed basis.
A member of the team will be appointed to keep track of expenditures and report their status at each team meeting and/or via e-mail, whichever is most expedient.
A member of the team will be appointed to represent the team before other teams, the Board of Directors, etc.
