Scholarship Committee Charter

Goal
It is the goal of the scholarship committee to distribute scholarships in accordance with the principles developed by the committee and approved by the KCC Board.
Population
- The minimum number of committee members is two. The optimal number is three.
- The requirements for membership of this committee are communication skills, some level of experience doing KCC retreats, availability to sangha members and the resident lama, awareness of the sensitive nature of donations and requests for financial aid, and time for communicating with the board and preparing reports.
Communication
- One of the primary roles of the committee is to draft a scholarship policy for review and approval by the board and the resident lama. Once approved, the policy shall be made readily available to sangha members.
- The committee shall maintain communication with all necessary parties to carry out its functions effectively.
- At least once a year, the committee shall prepare and present to the board a report on scholarship activity.
