KCC Policies

Urban Center Use

Adopted: January 20, 2002

KCC is a Vajrayana Buddhist center founded by the Venerable Kalu Rinpoche where the authentic teachings of the Karma and Shangpa Kagyu lineages are taught, practiced and supported. The function of KCC as an institution is to support practitioners in their process of spiritual awakening.

  1. Regularly scheduled Meditation practices as approved by the Program Committee.
  2. Two rooms will be available to residents selected according to established guidelines.
  3. KCC related meetings can be scheduled through the urban center manager.
  4. The center is available to sangha members to do individual practice, subject to approval by the urban center manager and schedule availability.
  5. It is not KCC's policy to be a hostel for Dharma travellers. KCC members who live out of town may make arrangements with the rental contact person for short stays. There is a suggested donation of $10 per night.
  6. For KCC related events, non-members may stay with the approval of the rental contact person and current residents.
  7. KCC property: Sangha wishing to borrow items from KCC need to have approval of the urban center manager. Items borrowed need to be returned in a timely manner.
  8. KCC will maintain a small bookstore and library on site. The library will also serve as an interview room for the Resident Lama.
  9. KCC may be used for on site retreats and periodic stays by visiting Lamas.
