Schedule
Full instructions for the Ngondro practices are given during the annual Mahamudra Seminar (usually in late May) and at a series of quarterly sessions offered during the year, each covering one of the four practices.
Description
The Ngondro practices are frequently referred to as the preliminaries for the Vajrayana. At KCC, Ngondro is mainly taught and supported as a component of the Mahamudra Program designed by Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche. Ngondro involves four practices, described by KCC’s founder, Kalu Rinpoche, this way:
-
Refuge and prostration, Deepens the sense of taking refuge in the Three Jewels, and develops bodhicitta—the enlightened or altruistic attitude of benefitting others which is based on love and compassion for all beings;
-
Vajrasattva, Purifies negative factors and obscurations;
-
Mandala offering, Accumulates merit and deepen their awareness; and
-
Guru Yoga, Opens the practitioner to the blessing of the lineage.
