The Seven Points of Mind Training (lojong, in Tibetan) is a system for transforming relationships with ourselves and others into the ground for the cultivation of loving-kindness and insight. This Buddhist practice was brought to Tibet in the 11th century by the great Indian Dharma master, Atisha. Today it is treasured by all the Tibetan schools as a complete path, efficacious for lay persons and ordained alike. Both novice and seasoned practitioners will find a rich array of tools for the practice of both ultimate and ultimate bodhicitta.
We will review each of the 7 points and will focus on selected aphorisms from the 50-plus pith guidelines to elucidate both the principles and practices particular to this meditation system. Since the days together are few, and the material is deep, we will spend approximately half the time teaching the concepts and half in practice.
