According to the Tibetan traditions the Buddha’s teachings are divided into three major sets or “turnings”. These three turnings present distinct yet complementary approaches to overcoming the kleshas - fundamental ignorance and the emotional compulsions that arise from it. As the kleshas are diminished, the practitioner gradually attains deep compassion and wisdom.

In this one-night class, Lama Michael will focus on the first turning, and in particular, the four foundations of mindfulness - the Buddha's four methods of training to antidote the primary misunderstandings that lead to suffering. This brief look at the methods of the first turning will help you understand the context and method of many of the practices we do at KCC. The class is appropriate for beginners and more advanced practitioners, as well. If you have questions on the content of this class, please contact Julia King Tamang:  jtamang@easystreet.net
