It has been a long time since Kagyu Changchub Chuling welcomed a new Resident Lama. On April 1, 1993, Michael Conklin became just the second in KCC's history, and he has served in that role for more than a quarter century. A year ago, Lama Michael announced he would be stepping down, and we are delighted to have Lama Eric Triebelhorn step into this role in 2020.
You are all cordially and warmly invited as we celebrate this transition on Saturday morning, January 4, 2020. We will begin with a ceremony to formalize this transition, followed by a potluck lunch with more informal celebration.
This is an important moment in the organization's history. At the start of Lama Michael's tenure, KCC had a small sangha meeting in a house in Northeast Portland. In the decades since, the community has worked to fulfill its mission to support practitioners in their process of spiritual awakening by expanding programs and building new facilities. Lama Eric enters at a moment when we have a beautiful new urban center and a wonderful retreat facility...supports for deepening and expanding practice in our sangha. This will be a moment to both honor Lama Michael's tenure and give Lama Eric a warm welcome.
Please RSVP so that we can plan for seating. If you would like to volunteer for this event (we need ushers, Hosts, Greeters, people to set up and take down), please contact Willa or Linda G. Thank you for helping make this a moment to remember!
