KCC Scholarship Committee Guidelines

Approved December 21, 2002

1. The purpose of KCC Scholarship Fund is to make it possible for
KCC members and other students approved by the Resident Lama to attend
KCC retreats and to have access to Bokar Rinpoche's teachings.

2. Scholarships may be awarded for KCC retreats, and to attend Bokar
Rinpoche's teachings in India, subject to the availability of
sufficient moneys in the fund. Scholarships are not normally available
for other non-KCC retreats.

3. In order to assure members that scholarships will continue to be
awarded both for KCC retreats and for the India seminars, the
Scholarship Committee intends to apportion currently available moneys
and future contributions approximately 50% to KCC retreats and 50% to
India seminars. The committee may vary this apportionment in certain
circumstances.

4. KCC Retreats

a. Persons receiving scholarships for KCC retreats are expected to
pay at least 50% of the advertised member or nonmember cost . This
amount will be applied to KCC´s actual expense, and the remaining
expense will be covered by the scholarship award. If there are requests
for over 50%, the committee will consider any special circumstances.

b. Scholarship requests should be submitted as early as possible and at least 2 weeks before the start of the retreat.

c. Full-time employees of KCC will receive an automatic 50% scholarship.

d. Certain persons may receive a discount on the cost of retreats.
Moneys from the Scholarship Fund are not utilized for these discounts
as they are paid out of the retreat overhead costs. Persons receiving
discounts may, however, apply for additional assistance from the
scholarship fund in case of demonstrated need.

5. Bokar Rinpoche's Teachings in India

Subject to the availability of sufficient moneys in the fund, as
described in #3 above, scholarships may be granted for India seminars
to cover up to 50% of the cost of economy class travel and basic living
expenses during the teachings. The following conditions apply:

a. The student must have done at least one seminar or retreat in the
Awakened Mind program, either in India or in the US, and must have
satisfactorily fulfilled the commitment.

b. An individual student may not receive a scholarship more frequently than once in three years.

6. Applications:

a. Students must contact the Scholarship Committee at KCC if they wish to request scholarships.

b. Scholarship requests must be supported by a written statement of financial need and practice history.

7. Administration:

a. Retreat scholarships will be distributed on a first come, first served basis for all applicants.

b. The committee will not award scholarships without verification that moneys are available in the scholarship fund.

c. The committee will keep written records of requests and awards.

d. A copy of these guidelines shall be posted on the KCC bulletin board along with retreat announcements.

e. Mailed retreat announcements shall indicate that scholarships are
available for up to 50% of the advertised retreat cost subject to
demonstration of financial need.

Members of the Scholarship Committee are Peggy Ensign and Michelle Zimmerman.
