KCC Guidelines for Special Fundraising Campaigns

August 13, 2003

KCC sangha members interested in implementing an idea for a capital
campaign special fundraising project should contact Karen Nelson. She
will assist in giving the project a name and getting it on KCC's
"radar". Karen can be contacted by email, phone at Ser Cho Osel Ling,
or quite often at KCC on Sundays.

Although currently donations are not tracked by special campaign in
KCC's Accounting System, donors should be encouraged to put the name of
the project on their check, donation envelope, or credit card form. If
the Development Committee or event soordinators are interested in how
much a project raised, this information could be entered into the
Capital Campaign's donation database.

All donations to KCC are tax deductible

Please tell all donors that KCC is a 501(c)3 corporation and their
donations may be tax deductible. If the person from whom you are
receiving the donation would like an IRS approved acknowledgment of
their donation(s) at year-end, make sure they include their name and
address, along with the amount of the donation. This is usually only a
problem with cash donations.

Donations can be made by check, cash or credit card.

Checks: make check payable to KCC Capital Campaign.

Cash: record on the attached Special Campaign Donations Form or
enclose in a Donation Envelope upon which the information has been
recorded. Cash donations without one of these two written records will
be recorded from an Unknown Donor.

Credit Card: complete the gift info form found in the Capital Campaign brochure.

Use of Donor Names

Donors should be aware that their names will be used in
acknowledging their gifts on the KCC bulletin board and possibly
through other means. If they want their gift to be anonymous, they need
to indicate that clearly on the donation form or in a note. They will
still need to include their name and address in order to receive an IRS
approved acknowledgment of their donation.
