E-Mail List Servers

KCC has set up the following e-mail listservs (list servers) to
facilitate sangha communications. A listserv is basically an Internet
e-mail address that forwards any e-mail sent to it, to a predefined
list of other Internet e-mail addresses. So by sending an e-mail to a
listserv such as community@kcc.org, you will actually be sending an
e-mail to everyone who is on the list.

  1. Announce@kcc.org

The Announce listserv is a venue in which KCC announces
events, retreats, teachings and other center-related activities. It is
not a "chat" listserv. Only authorized people at KCC can post
announcements. To subscribe to Announce, send an e-mail to
announce-on@kcc.org from the e-mail address where you want to receive
    the announcements.

In addition, we also announce events not directly sponsored by us
but which are of significance for our practice. These include visits by
major lineage holders such as Bokar Rinpoche and Thrangu Rinpoche,
teachings and empowerments given by Lama Tsang Tsing in Eugene, and
Tibetan language workshops. By restricting use of the server in this
way, we hope to spare you from unwanted "spam".

  2. Community@kcc.org

The Community listserv is a forum for KCC sangha members to
share information, both dharma-related and not-so-dharma-related; learn
about KCC volunteer opportunities; share recipes; announce illnesses
and deaths; express thank-you's, etc. Anyone who is subscribed to Community can post messages to the Community listserv. To subscribe to Community send an e-mail to community-on@kcc.org from the e-mail address where you want to receive the mail.

  3. Board@kcc.org

KCC has established this listserv as an experiment to allow an open
format of communication as the board of directors goes about conducting
its business. This communication will also be helpful for committee
members, especially coordinators, who are encouraged to participate
when topics relate to the work they are doing on their committee.

Listserv Etiquette

Be mindful of how many people you are communicating with when using a listserv.

When replying or forwarding an e-mail from a listserv, please check
the people addressed in the To: and CC: fields to make sure your e-mail
reaches only the people you intend to read it. Replies will go back
only to the originator of the e-mail sent to you. Use "Reply to All" if
you want your response to go to the sender and everyone else subscribed
to the listserv.
