Mahamudra Guru Yoga Retreat
November 8-15, 2006 in Mirik, India.
In commemoration of the second anniversary of the parinirvana of Kyabje Dorje Chang Bokar Rinpoche,Venerable Khenpo Lodro Donyo Rinpoche will lead an eight day program for international Dharma students at Mirik monastery. Khenpo will offer teachings on Mahamudra, the Guru Yoga of Bokar Rinpoche and on the inspirational biography of Bokar Rinpoche composed by Khenpo Rinpoche himself. Khenpo Lodro Donyo, abbott of Mirik monastery, was Bokar Rinpoche's principal disciple and life-long companion. In August 2005, Khenpo Rinpoche gave the first series of these teachings to Bokar Rinpoche's disciples who gathered together from around the world on the occasion of the first anniversary of Rinpoche's parinirvana.
Location and Program Schedule
The events will begin on November 8. You should plan to arrive in Mirik no later than November 7. It is often a good idea to arrive a few days in advance to adjust to the time change and recover from jet lag.
The last event will be held November 15. You should plan to leave no earlier than November 16 if you plan to stay for the entire event.
The beautiful village of Mirik is located in West Bengal, India at an altitude of 1,767 meters (5,800 feet). Prepaid or regular taxis are available at Bagdogra airport and the railway stations at Siliguri and New Jalpaiguri (NJP). Please allow one and one-half hours or more to make the journey. Shared taxis and buses are also available at lower cost, but will take more time to complete the journey.
The retreat will be at Bokar Monastery in Mirik. It will begin on the morning of November 8th and will finish on the morning of November 15th. As in 2005, the retreat will include meditation, teachings, prayers, and ceremonies. Participants will have the good fortune to witness the consecration ceremonies of the sacred stupa containing Rinpoche's Kudung , which are planned for November 10-12. An opportunity for Yidam practice for qualified students may also be included. This gathering will afford an opportunity for students to maintain and strengthen their connection with Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche, Khenpo Lodro Donyo, and the lineage in general. This is also an opportunity for students who did not meet Rinpoche to establish a connection. As His Holiness Karmapa has repeatedly said, "Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche and Khenpo Rinpoche's minds are inseparable".
