The Perfection of Wisdom and the Mystery of Being

The Perfection of Wisdom and the Mystery of Being

--a one-day retreat with Ken McLeod
Form is emptiness.
Emptiness is form.
Emptiness is not other than form.
Form is not other than emptiness.
For centuries these four sentences have echoed down the corridors of time.
What do they mean? What do they have to say about our lives today?
Surprisingly, these four lines and the Heart Sutra bring the reader directly into the very quality that makes a life of compassion possible, namely, the perfection of wisdom. This wisdom is a mystery: it cannot be understood intellectually, but it can be known through experience.
Through a combination of meditation practice, reflective frameworks, and pointing out instructions, Ken guides participants into the mystery of the perfection of wisdom. Well versed in the Heart Sutra, Ken will draw on
traditional and contemporary commentaries, including his own, An Arrow to the Heart.

About Ken:

One of the senior Western teachers of Buddhism today, Ken McLeod is also one of the most innovative. Known for his ability to explain difficult and subtle teachings, “he distills the nature and purpose of Buddhism to make it accessible for any newcomer without dumbing it down.” (Phil Catalfo, Yoga Journal, July 2001 in a review of Ken’s first book, Wake up to Your Life). Formerly a translator for Kalu Rinpoche and other lamas, Ken consistently goes beyond standard terminology to express the essence of Buddha’s teachings in clear, precise, contemporary English.
