Attend A Retreat
Although construction continues at Ser Chö Ösel Ling, KCC has completed facilities at the long-retreat cloister adequate to support short-term group and individual retreats. We held our inaugural event in the completed North Wing of the cloister for students in our children’s program in the summer of 2008; KCC began hosting the annual North American Mahamudra Retreat there in late May the same year and has also hosted several other retreats and events since then. In addition, beginning in early 2009, KCC conducted a pilot program where we sponsored individual retreats at the cloister.
These programs are the fulfillment of over a decade’s planning and hard work. We encourage anyone with interest in the land to consider doing a retreat here. It is a wonderful location, quiet and serene, and provides an opportunity for practitioners to deepen their practice and connect themselves to this wonderful site.
Group Retreats Group retreats are held in the completed portion of long-retreat cloister. Currently, we have space for 27 people in group retreats. The facility is ADA-compliant and has beds located in retreat cabins and dormitories. Group retreats include meals, cooked on-site by KCC volunteers. There are showers and bathrooms adequate to serve the needs of all retreatants.
Individual Retreats It is also possible to do individual retreats at Ser Chö Ösel Ling. Individual retreatants have access to all facilities, including personal cabins, kitchen, showers, and the shrine room. However, there are no staff on-site to support the activities of retreat, and no teacher available for consultation. In addition, since space is limited, and retreatants must satisfy two requirements before scheduling a retreat:
Although there is no limit on the length of time one can stay on personal retreats, schedules must be worked around existing event and group retreat schedules.
